What is Coated Art Paper

Created on 09.16
Coated art paper is a high-quality grade of paper that features a treated surface through coating and calendering processes. The coated side is smooth and glossy, delivering excellent color reproduction, making it ideal for high-definition color printing. The uncoated side is also suitable for single-color or multicolor printing applications.
One-side coated art paper: Compared to papers of the same grade, this type offers approximately 3%–4% higher opacity due to its light coating. It is especially suited for products with high basis weight, providing vibrant color performance during printing. In addition, the paper offers good stiffness, which enhances printability and makes it compatible with high-speed rotary presses.
Matt finished coated paper: Both sides of the paper are coated with a special powdered finish, resulting in a matte appearance that is soft to the touch and reduces glare. This type offers high opacity and a pleasing tactile experience. Printed colors appear bright, saturated, and overall superior in visual effect.
